SnapTest: a study app that follows the school calendar
Figures are source-labeled by TrustMRR, whatsthe.app and verifiedrevenues.app as cited. WorkAINow has not audited them. Data as of 2026-10-20.
The angle: SnapTest turns a photo of handwritten notes into quiz games (App Store). Its MRR fell by half over the summer and came back in the fall. That's what you'd expect if revenue follows the school year. It's the clearest seasonal pattern among the AI apps we track.

Estimate: on TrustMRR, MRR rose 81% from late August to today (method: $17,052 ÷ $9,440 − 1). Seasonality is our hypothesis, not something the founder has said. The low point fits Northern Hemisphere summer break, and the recovery fits exam season, but other causes (ad spend, a feature launch) can't be ruled out.
Pricing
Only two US items: Unlimited Weekly $4.99 and Unlimited Yearly $39.99 (App Store). The app description says full access requires an auto-renewing subscription (App Store). - Estimate: about $11.60 MRR per subscription (method: $17,052 ÷ 1,470). The yearly plan comes to $3.33 a month and the weekly to about $21.60. An average of $11.60 implies many subscribers are on the weekly plan. - 30-day revenue is 1.55× MRR (TrustMRR). That fits a wave of new yearly purchases at the start of term.
Acquisition
Unknown. TrustMRR lists no channels. Four App Store ratings against 1,470 subscribers suggests users arrive from outside the App Store, through social media or ads, rather than from App Store search. That's an inference.
What other founders can copy
- Plan cash for the school year. If your users are students, expect summer to cut MRR by about half, and budget for it.
- Keep the paywall to two plans. A weekly plan for cramming and a yearly plan for committed users is easy to choose between (App Store).
- Spend before exams, not in July. The September–October rebound is when acquisition spend pays off most.
- Ask for ratings. Four ratings is a missed chance to rank in App Store search.
Unknowns
- Channels, spend, and audience split (high school versus university, by country)
- Trial length, churn, and how subscribers split between weekly and yearly plans
